Terms of Service

Kata is a habit and daily photo check-in app that helps you build a visual record of your progress. It includes an alarm and a friends feed. Features may change or be added over time.

You need an account to use core features. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the activity under your account. You must provide accurate information.

Because Kata includes social features, you must be at least 13 years old, and older where your country requires a higher minimum age for online services (in Germany, users under 16 need consent from a parent or guardian).

You retain ownership of the photos, notes and other content you add. You grant us the limited rights needed to store your content and display it back to you — and, only where you choose to share a check-in, to the friends you are connected with — in order to operate the app.

Check-ins are private by default. A check-in becomes visible to your accepted friends only when you switch on “Share with friends” for that check-in. You can stop sharing at any time by deleting the check-in.

You are responsible for the content you upload and must have the right to share it.

Kata lets you share check-ins with friends and react or comment on theirs. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You must not post, send or share:

• unlawful, hateful, harassing, violent or sexually explicit content,
• content involving minors in any inappropriate way,
• content that infringes someone else's rights, including photos of other people who have not agreed to it,
• spam, impersonation, or attempts to deceive other users.

Every post and comment can be reported from inside the app, and you can block any user at any time. Blocking hides your content from that person and theirs from you.

Reported content disappears immediately for the person who reported it. If several people report the same content independently, it is hidden from everyone automatically until we have reviewed it.

We review reported content — normally within 24 hours — remove content that breaches these rules, and suspend or terminate the accounts responsible.

You agree not to misuse the service, including:

• uploading unlawful, infringing or harmful content,
• attempting to access other users' data,
• using contact details obtained through the app for anything other than a personal invitation,
• disrupting or reverse-engineering the service beyond what the law permits.

Kata supports habit-building and self-tracking. It does not provide medical, psychological or professional health advice. Consult a qualified professional for any health decisions.

The alarm relies on your device's system features. Whether it fires reliably depends on your device settings, the permissions you granted, and the operating system. Please do not rely on it alone for time-critical commitments.

The current version of Kata is free. If paid features (subscriptions) are introduced, the applicable prices and terms will be shown before purchase and processed through the App Store.

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account also removes your shared check-ins, comments and reactions.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate access if these terms — in particular the community rules — are breached.

The app is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For simple negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.

We may change these terms, for example when features are added or the legal situation changes. We will announce material changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after that means the changed terms apply.

German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence.

The EU Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
